Cooper's first ER trip

Thursday afternoon Cooper was playing sword fighting downstairs with a couple of boys from the neighborhood, while I was picking up a few toys at the end of the hall. All of a sudden Coop started crying and walking towards me so I put him on my lap and chatted for a minute. While the little boy kept telling me, "I no hit him, he hit that" pointing at the candy machine.  Coop stopped crying and off he went. A minute or two later he came back with a bloody hand, so I took him in the bathroom to wash it off and found no cuts. I thought it was kind of weird but sat him down anyway. As soon as he turned to walk out the door I noticed blood all over his neck and then the back of his head. I calmly picked him back up and washed off his neck and called Brady. I told him I wasn't sure if he needed stitches, but that it was pretty long. I'm not the best dealing with blood and such, but I was proud that I held it together pretty well.

I gathered all the boys up and took them upstairs to put on a movie. Cooper was not to happy about the towel I was trying to press on his head, luckily it wasn't bleeding much. Brady came home and decided we had better take him in. So off he went to the ER. I quickly got the 2 boys ready and took them next door until their mom could pick them up, she was due back in about 5 minutes,  and asked if Ellie could stay awhile.
The entire way to the hospital I knew Cooper was going to be fine, but my adrenaline was up and I was really nervous. Lucky for us our neighbor, Vanessa, was working and Cooper was already checked in. Her first comment was, "I can't believe this didn't happen on a wiggle car, You should see this kid on one, he is a maniac!" They tried to find him a few toys, but he was really still and quiet. Like he knew what he was in for, he and I had been to the other hospital for a blood draw earlier in the day and he was acting just as guarded. They finally found some Toy Story stickers and he loved chatting with them.
Once in our room the nurse, with whom Brady worked with in Orem, applied some numbing cream to Cooper's cut and then we waited. After about 20 minutes he came in and cleaned the wound and then Cooper got 4 staples in his head. He was really brave and only cried for a minute. As soon as he was done, he got down and was all smiles. He waved at the nurses and asked, "How do we get out of here!" ON our way out we saw Vanessa and she took Cooper to get a Popsicle, his favorite!!
The rest of the afternoon he was his same old wild self, I couldn't get him to settle down much. However, by the end of the day he had snuggled down with his dad to watch Jimmer and fallen sound asleep!!
The next day I was looking at the staples, and Ellie commented,"Those staples are freaking me out!" I guess she may take after her mother on the blood thing.

Pioneer Park

On the first Monday of the year, Brady worked half a day and then spent the rest of the day with us. Ellie went to a birthday party and when she was done we loaded up in the Jeep and headed up to the Dixie Rock. The weather has been so lovely this year we wanted to take advantage and do a little hiking. The kids had a blast playing in all the little crevices in the rocks...

We found an old house built into the rocks...
Posed for some silly pictures...
Had a little picnic and Brady & I got motivated to get fit in 2012 with a little contest...

Christmas Day Squared

On Christmas Sunday we all got up super early, put on our Sunday best, and headed over to Coral Desert to give the patients a fuzzy blanket and a calendar. It was such a fun thing to do and I hope to keep it a family tradition. The kids loved taking the gifts in and riding on the cart with all the gifts. One man was so overwhelmed and couldn't stop crying, many others loved seeing and chatting with the kids. I wish I had taken some photos.

The next stop was church, it was so nice to attend on a holiday centered around our Savior. We just had sacrament which was filled with short talks and lots of music. The kids were restless, but we made it through.
After we came home and packed up the car for a quick trip to Vegas. We hung out with all the Haycock's, ate lots of yummy food, played with cousins, opened more gifts, and had a great time.
Monday morning we made a stop by the Mohler's to see what Santa had left for them. Ryker was excited to show off his toys and Alyson wanted everyone to snuggle her babies. The kids had pizza and rode wiggle cars all over the house. While Brady, my Dad, Kim, and Alex enjoyed a quiet lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. The kids were sad to leave, but we had so much fun and couldn't wait to see everyone just a few days later.

Dance Dance Dance

Ellie had her first dance recital in December. She has been going to a class put on by a couple girls in our ward since August. She loves it and I think next year I am going to have to shell out for a gymnastics class. They performed quite a few numbers and Ellie showed off her "bridge" and it was the best of the whole group:)

Her and her bestie Abby!!!
A celebration treat at Menchie's!!!
